JUNE NEWTON - ALICE SPRINGS
It was 1970, the photo session was scheduled and could not be postponed. Helmut Newton, who was not feeling good, gave his wife, muse-assistant since years, a quick lesson in photography asking her to replace him. Starting from that day thanks to a banal flue, June became an icon female photographer. By 1974 one of her photos was published on the cover of Elle magazine with a different name that she chosed as a pseudonym, by blindly stabbing a pin into a map of Australia: Alice Springs. The selected name for her professional career that came from the Australian town, was used just in case she was not going to success and because Helmut thought: "One Newton in the family was enough". At the age of 47 years old, Alice Springs did find success as a fashion photographer for the most popular magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Interview and later as a portraitist for many famous figures. As often said Carpe Diem. June alias Alice was able to seize a new opportunity.

Helmut Newton non stava bene, diede quindi a sua moglie, musa-assitente da anni, una lezione veloce sulla fotografia chiedendole di sostituirlo. A partire da quel giorno grazie ad una banale influenza, June divenne una un'icona della fotografia femminile. Nel 1974 una delle sue foto fu pubblicata sulla copertina di Elle con un nome diverso che lei scelse come pseudonimo puntando ad occhi chiusi uno spillo sulla cartina dell'Australia: Alice Springs. Il nome prescelto per la sua carriera professionale derivato dalla città' Australiana fu scelto per nascondere eventuali insuccessi e perché Helmut penso': "Un Newton in famiglia bastava". All'età' di 47 anni, Alice Springs trovo' successo come fotografa di moda per le riviste patinate più' famose quali Vogue, Vanity Fair, Interview e più' tardi come ritrattista per personaggi famosi. Come suol dirsi Carpe Diem. June alias Alice e' stata in grado di cogliere una nuova opportunità' al volo.
